Advisory Boards

Do I have an advisory board with someone who has personally grown their own company from $0-$10M+ to assist my business using proven growth strategies who can guide me and my business to success and hold me accountable?

Independent Advisory Board Member

Session purpose

Meet quarterly to review business performance, set organisational strategy and address key issues for the business to hit its long-term growth targets.

Audience

Business Owner/CEO

My role

  • Liaise with key stakeholders and draft roles and responsibilities document for each attendee
  • Set an agenda to be followed by all participants
  • In advance of each advisory board meeting, receive and review key business information from the organisation (financials, CEO report, project plans etc.)
  • Facilitate the meeting and ensure that everyone has a voice, constructive discussions are had, everyone is held accountable to set actions and goals, and be honest and upfront about how to get the best results during the day
  • Ask the tough questions of all attendees
  • Guide the business owners towards their long term goals
  • Refer other specialist advisors if required to assist the business
  • Be a sounding board for business owners challenges encountered along the way and support them as required
  • Do a follow-up go2meeting/Skype call 4 weeks after the session to check on progress, keep everyone accountable to what was agreed to at the sessions, and answer any follow-up questions.

Key areas to cover during the session:

Provide updates on:

  • Strategic plan (annual/quarterly) progress
  • Business metrics
  • Right people/right seats/right things
  • Business challenges
  • Business financial performance (P&L, B/S, Cash-flow projections)

Duration

Normally pre-work of 1-2 hours and 3 hour advisory board meeting.
